Finishing and Embellishment
Finishing is where a cover is decided. Each process behaves differently on different stocks, so we specify by the effect you want and the board you are using, and we make a sample before committing a full run to it.

Process
How the work runs
- Confirm the effect wanted and the board it will sit on
- Prepare blocking dies or embossing tooling from the artwork
- Produce a physical sample on the actual stock
- Run the finish once the sample is approved
- Retain the approved sample as the reference for reruns

Questions we are asked
- Why sample when the artwork is approved?
- Artwork approval is not stock approval. Foil on soft-touch lamination behaves differently from foil on matt board, and the only reliable way to know is to make one.
- Can you match a finish from years ago?
- If you send the earlier volume, usually yes. Foil ranges change, so we may propose the nearest current equivalent and show it to you on a sample first.
